Guidelines for development of indicators: Capacity Building Event 2
We are excited to share with you the highlights of our second capacity-building event that unfolded in the town of Krushevo from July 4th to 6th, 2023. This event was a journey into the world of indicators, a critical component of our evidence-based approach to monitoring and evaluating agriculture and rural development policies.
1. Unlocking the Potential of Indicators
The aim of this capacity-building event was to empower our dedicated MAFWE staff with the knowledge and skills to craft indicators and guidance fiches for our dynamic monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system. This event was a pivotal chapter within the broader AMP’s M&E framework, generously supported by the World Bank.
2. Objectives: Fuelling Skill Development
Our objectives were as follows:
- Illuminate the concept of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) indicators.
- Equip our team with the ability to create guidance fiches for indicators and seamlessly integrate them into our data collection system
3. The Guiding Principles
- To ensure an engaging and seamless learning experience, we adhered to these guiding principles:
- Proactive registration to tackle technical challenges.
- Interactive presentations infused with engaging moments.
- Streamlined group discussions to foster collaborative learning.
- A well-equipped venue conducive to inspired learning.
4. The Audience
This training was meticulously designed for MAFWE employees who will play a pivotal role in crafting and managing our organization’s M&E system.
5. A Journey Through Time
Day 1: We embarked on our adventure with an illuminating introduction to training objectives and a peek into the exciting agenda. Participants engaged in vibrant discussions about the intricacies of indicator development.
Day 2: The morning session was a deep dive into the world of guidance for output indicators. Practical exercises ignited creativity as participants collaboratively crafted eight draft fiches. The room buzzed with positivity and teamwork.
Day 3: The final day was a captivating voyage into the complexities of impact/context indicators. Participants paired up to navigate the intricacies of impact indicators, gaining valuable insights into data assessment challenges and solutions.
6. Ending on a High Note
As the training concluded, participants shared their insights and unanimously expressed their high satisfaction with the event, highlighting its seamless alignment with their expectations.
7. Charting the Course Forward
This capacity-building event is a significant milestone in our ongoing journey toward evidence-based policymaking and effective monitoring and evaluation. We eagerly anticipate the innovative solutions and transformative changes that will emerge from the knowledge gained during this event.
