The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy (MAFWE) is implementing the Agriculture Modernization Project (AMP) financed by the World Bank with a loan of EUR 46 million, with the purpose to improve the competitiveness of North Macedonia’s agriculture sector and strengthen public institutions in the framework of the country’s accession process to the EU. The project Sub-component 2.3 is co-financed by the EU with a grant of EUR 4 million.

There are other agencies that are supporting the implementation as beneficiaries at the same time, namely Agency for Financial Support of Agriculture and Rural Development, Food and Veterinary Agency and Public Enterprise for Management of Pastures. The project is coordinating with Agency for Real Estate Cadastre.

The project effectiveness was declared on June 18th 2021. The project closing date is June 30th 2025.  The MAFWE is the lead project Implementing Agency and have overall responsibility for project management and implementation.
