On October 5–6, the World Bank preparation mission for the “Zletovica – Productivity through Irrigation and Renewable Energy Project” was successfully completed. The Project is being prepared through the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, with the support of the World Bank.

During the two-day mission, the Project Implementation Unit of the Agriculture Modernization Project, together with representatives of the World Bank, PE HS “Zletovica”, and the Water Management Directorate, reviewed the progress achieved so far in the preparation of this strategically important project.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of activities financed through the Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP), as well as to institutional coordination, procurement, technical preparation, and the alignment of the work plan for the upcoming period.

The mission also reviewed and further defined the forthcoming activities related to the preparation and updating of technical and feasibility studies, detailed design solutions for irrigation systems and renewable energy generation, dam safety documentation, and the required environmental and social documentation.
An important part of the discussions focused on coordination among the expert teams and the definition of the next field, technical, and analytical activities, with the aim of ensuring that project preparation proceeds in a timely and coordinated manner and in accordance with World Bank requirements and standards.

The “Zletovica – Productivity through Irrigation and Renewable Energy Project” represents an important step toward fully utilizing the potential of the Zletovica Hydro-System through the development of modern irrigation infrastructure and sustainable renewable energy generation, with broader benefits for agriculture, local economic development, and sustainable water resources management.
