The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy is receiving a grant of $2 million for updating project documentation and training beneficiaries, as part of the preparations for the project “Improving the Use of Waters from the Zletovica River Basin – Phase 2: Irrigation and Phase 3: Electricity Production.”
The agreement was signed today by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy, Cvetan Tripunovski, and the World Bank Regional Director, Carol Megevand.

Through the implementation of the project, more reliable and sustainable water supply for agricultural land should be ensured, which will contribute to higher productivity, better-quality yields and increased competitiveness of Macedonian agriculture.
The grant will be implemented by the Ministry through the existing project implementation unit financed by the World Bank for the modernization of agriculture. The final beneficiary will be the Public Enterprise Hydrosystem “Zletovica” – Probishtip.
The implementation is planned to last 18 months, from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.
